Stein Mitchell Muse & Cipollone LLP Announces Name Change and New Managing Partners

The law firm of Stein Mitchell Muse & Cipollone LLP is pleased to announce a name change to Stein Mitchell Muse Cipollone & Beato LLP. This change recognizes the strategic leadership and exceptional contribution of partner, Andrew M. Beato.
As Chair of the False Claims Act and Whistleblower Practice Group, Mr. Beato represents qui tam relators in the United States and abroad in cases involving violations of the False Claims Act. He has substantial experience representing clients in high-profile government fraud investigations with various state and federal agencies. Mr. Beato's practice group was responsible for the payment of $500 million by India’s largest generic drug maker, Ranbaxy, to settle systemic generic drug manufacturing fraud and for a $16.5 million False Claims Act settlement for unnecessary heart procedures performed by St. Joseph Health System, Inc. Mr. Beato also was named one of Washingtonian Magazine’s 2013-2014 “Best Lawyers.”
Denis C. Mitchell and Mr. Beato will join Pat A. Cipollone as managing partners of the firm succeeding Robert F. Muse and Gerald E. Mitchell, both of whom have provided outstanding leadership in managing the firm and building their respective practices. In making the announcement, Mr. Cipollone noted, “Andrew and Denis are held in high regard by their fellow partners for their achievements and service to the firm. On the eve of our 50th Anniversary, their strategic leadership as managing partners will be invaluable to our future success.”
Mr. Denis Mitchell is a trial attorney with a practice focused on representation of people with life-changing injuries in medical malpractice, product liability, and trucking cases. He has successfully brought and tried cases before multiple state and federal courts. In 2013, as lead counsel, he obtained an $8.3 million verdict in a wrongful death case, believed to be the largest in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Recently, Mr. Mitchell was elected President of the D.C. Trial Lawyers Association, and he received that organization's Trial Lawyer of the Year award. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers and SuperLawyers as a leading practitioner in the District of Columbia.
